About Me
The Founder
-Alys Medi Roberts Aged 14
Hi! I'm Alys, the founder of ALYS .I started this business in 2023 when I was just 13 years old, and it's been a dream come true.
I've always loved jewellery—but I could never find pieces that were both affordable and high-quality, especially ones that were safe for sensitive ears like mine. That’s why I decided to create my own! Nearly everything I make uses 925 sterling silver or 18k gold-plated materials—perfect for everyday wear and gentle on sensitive skin.
My love for the beach also plays a huge part in my brand. I’ve always loved collecting sea glass, and one day I thought: why not turn it into something beautiful? That’s when my business really took off. Now, I create handcrafted sea glass jewellery, wire-wrapped with care and filled with the story of the sea.
After finding success with my polymer clay earrings, I transitioned to working exclusively with high-quality metals and sea glass. I also began selling on TikTok Shop, which helped me feel more professional and grow quickly!
During the Easter holidays, I got offered my very first pop-up shop for two weeks. I almost didn’t go for it—but I’m so glad I did. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, and it gave my business a huge boost. I was even featured on S4C, a Welsh TV channel!
Since then, I’ve been invited back to use the space over the summer. It’s so exciting to bring my jewellery to life in a real shop and meet so many amazing customers in person.
This year, I also entered my jewellery into the Eisteddfod, a Welsh competitive festival—and I won 1st place in the first round and 2nd place in the second! That makes my jewellery officially award-winning 🎉
My Eco Mission 🌍
Running a jewellery brand made me more aware of how much waste small businesses can create—especially with packaging. So I’ve made it part of my mission to cut out as much plastic as possible.
Instead of using plastic bubble mailers, your order comes in a recyclable cardboard box. And rather than cheap plastic bags or throwaway cards, your jewellery is packed in a reusable drawer-style jewellery box—perfect for storing your pieces safely and stylishly.
I’ve also started upcycling old jewellery, like turning old beaded bracelets into earrings. Not only does this reduce waste, but most of the profits go to an ocean charity, helping protect sea life and fight plastic pollution.
Did you know? Over 8 million tonnes of plastic end up in our oceans every year, harming wildlife and even entering our food and water. I want to be part of the change—and I’m proud that this brand is doing more than just making pretty things.
From personalized gifts to sea glass treasures, every piece is made with love, quality, and a little bit of coastal magic. Thank you for supporting my small business and being part of something bigger 🌊💙
